Formulation and Optimization of Load Imbalance in the Hybrid Atomistic-Continuum Simulation Based on Geometric Coupling
2016
unpublished
The hybrid atomistic-continuum (HAC) method based on geometric coupling has intrinsic load imbalance under the conventional parallel decomposition. This paper presents quantitative guiding rules for alleviating load imbalance in the HAC simulation. We analyze the coupling procedures and the parallelism mechanism of the HAC method, formulate the coupling oriented load balance model and present quantitative decomposition rules for the atomistic region as well as the overlap region decomposition.
