the tonsils were removed in 73 per cent, of the cases. "Sore throat" recurred after removal of the tonsils in 7 per cent, of these. At least two operations were necessary before the tonsils were completely removed in 22 per cent, of the cases. 3. The tonsillar lymph nodes were enlarged in 100 per cent, of the cases before the operation was per¬ formed, while in 59 per cent, of the cases they were impalpable afterward.
