Flooding Vulnerability Assessment – A Case Study of Hou-Jing Stream in Taiwan

The research aims to determine how factors of population distribution, industry, and infrastructure influence the process of assessing flooding vulnerability. The main research goals are as follows: 1. To locate river basin inhabitants of sites vulnerable to flooding and define primary flood protection zones. 2. The results of the case study provide a quantitative understanding of the effectiveness of practicing land use flood control measures based on concepts of flood risk management. The framework and simulation results of this paper provide a useful reference for urban planners who engage in risk assessment modeling.
