This paper [written in SPANISH] discusses the results of new analyses of the materials at the key site of El Saladero excavated in 1950 and 1955 by Cruxent and Rouse. Reviewing the collections curated at the Peabody Museum of Natural History, Yale University (YPM), we selected for dating 14 ceramic sherds and 5 charcoal samples, representative of the Saladero, Barrancas, Los Barrancos and Guarguapo complexes or styles. more » ... he AMS dates processed by the Oxford Radiocarbon Accelerator Unit (ORAU) and the botanical identification of four wood charcoals and eight starch residue samples obtained from carbon soot adhered to six shards representing each style and the botanical identification of four charred woods. This contribution is all the more significant given our confirmation that a large part of the site has vanished as a result of fluvial erosion. Taken together, all of these data offer new insights of the Saladoid and Barrancoid traditions of the Orinoco Basin.
