Abstract: The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of distributed scaffolding in inquiry learning on students' high-level thinking skills (HOTS), particularly on the subject of geometric optics. This type of research was quasi-experimental with a pretest and posttest control group design. The research instrument for measuring HOTS was ten questions of reasoned multiple choices.
