we do not fqpl called upon to modify the remarks in the opening paragraphs of the paper. Up to a few years ago, the largest transformer in this country was only of 2,000 k.v.a. capacity and the maximum voltage only 20,000 volts. When this is compared with the large sizes and voltages dealt with in the paper and already coming rapidly into use, we think our remarks are, to a certain extent, justified. Certain manufacturers have gained more extensive experience in apparatus for foreign markets,
more » ... foreign markets, and are in a position to tackle any problems involved in the new schemes for power supply, provided they get the necessary assistance and co-operation from those responsible for specifying and ordering the plant.
