Fatty Amines-Intercalated α-Zirconium Phosphate as Latent Thermal Curing Agents

Fatty amines as curing agents of epoxy resins were intercalated into α ZrP: 1,3 propanediamine (α ZrP・PrDA) , 1,4 butanediamine(α ZrP・BuDA) , and diethylenetriamine(α ZrP・DETA) . The intercalated α ZrP as thermal latent curing agents were examined with reaction of glycidyl phenyl ether(GPE) . The conversion factor of GPE at 140℃ for 24 h, the conversions were 94% for α ZrP・BuDA and 89% for α ZrP・DETA. As the conversion of α ZrP・PrDA was 47%. more » ... ower than that of α ZrP・BuDA and α ZrP・DETA. The thermal stabilities at 40℃ for 15 days were tested. The reaction did not proceed in the presence of all intercalated compounds. α ZrP・BuDA and α ZrP・DETA were served as good thermal latent curing agents in the reaction of GPE.
