Infarction of The Right Ventricle Caused by Multiple Coronary Vein Ligation

FERDINAND F. MCALLISTER, DAVID S. LEIGHNINGER
1950 Circulation
Ligation of the coronary sinus and all the visible anterior cardiac veins led to death in 5 out of 24 (logs. In 15 out of 17 of these dogs coming to autopsy, varying degrees of infarction of the right ventricle were found. The work emphasizes the importance of the superficial venous system in the drainage of the myocardiunm and reveals the inadequacy of the intramural system when the latter is forced to assume the entire outflow load.
