Purpose: Quality of life (Qol) is undoubtedly important for patient case management. The Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is one of the most common functional gastrointestinal disorders which disturbs the daily life of individuals and potentially affects emotional status and quality of life. Visual analogue scale for IBS (VAS-IBS) is a well-known symptom severity rating scale proposed as an instrument which could be clinically used to evaluate the perceived severity of IBS symptoms in patients
more » ... toms in patients over time. In this study, we aimed to translate, adapt and validate the VAS-IBS to Romanian language and culture. The translation, adaptation and validation of the Romanian version of VAS-IBS were possible without many limitations due to some similarities between Romanian and Western cultures. Thus, according to our results, the final form of Romanian VAS-IBS can be considered a reliable tool in measuring the perceived severity of gastrointestinal symptoms which can be classified by 64/Bulletin of Integrative Psychiatry New Series  March 2020  Year XXVI  No. 1 (84) ROME IV as IBS symptoms, as this could also have an increased relevance in the context of the associated psychiatric disorders of IBS.
