Harvesting heat in an urban greenhouse

This article describes the first eight months of operation of a prototype rooftop greenhouse located in Helsinki, Finland. The greenhouse is heated by exhaust heat harvested from a rack of computer servers, while the servers are cooled by unconditioned outside air only. We describe which plants have thrived in this kind of a synthetic environment. Plants in the greenhouse include multiple edible species, including seven types of chili peppers.
