Demand Elasticities for public bus transport in Bombay
1985
unpublished
Public bus transport systems in cities of developing countries generally face a demand situation which is characteristically different from that in advanced countries. The present state of knowledge of demand functions and elasticities is also very poor. This paper therefore attempts to analyse the passenger traffic data pertaining to Bombay city for 1976-84 to estimate demand functions with the help of a few explanatory variables and to prepare general elasticity estimates through adoption of simple statistical techniques.
