Report on the Japanese Government Oversea Study Program for art officials at the Natural History Museum, London, UK

I stayed at the Natural History Museum , LondQn from November 2007 to February 2008 and learned techniques of colleotion management and exhibits and education , joining in the overseas study program for museum staff executed by the Ministry of Education , Culture , Sports , Science and Technology , Govemment of Japan . The allotment of mission for each occupational category , such as the collection management , the research , the education , and the exhibition , etc. is very clear in the museum
more » ... , and each staff member demonstrates the high degree of professionalism . The curators who take charge Gf the collection management are devoting their energies to the enhancement of the collection very much and the role of researchers outside the museum is l 肛 ge in it . It seems very important for curators in na 加 ral histQry museums ofJapan to keep the collections in such a state as that users have easy access to them and to improve the collections in cooperation with the users .
