Department of Chemistry, University of Jodhpur, Jodhpur Manuscript received 13 January 1972 ; revised 7 November 1973 ; accepted 17 June 1974. The Schift base, 4-(2-hydroxy ethylimino) pentane-2-one forms solid complexes with Fe(ll), Co(ll), Ni(ll), Co(ll), Zn(ll), Pd(ll), Cd(ll) and UO2(ll). The elemental analysis, molecular weight, magnetic moment values and electronic spectral data have been used to establish the stoichiometry and structures of these compounds. Based on these studies it is
more » ... ncluded that Fe(ll), Co(ll), Ni(ll), and UO2(ll) complexes possess octahedral structures. Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) complexes display tetrahedral structures whereas Pd(II) complex exhibits a square planar configuration.
