SSCP and RAPD techniques were performed in order to detect the genetic variability of Taenia solium cestode, using both mitochondrial and nuclear DNA fragments. The DNA was extracted from eight different cysts isolated of pigs originated from three distant Colombian provinces: Antioquia, Nariño and Sucre. Gene fragments corresponding to NADH dehydrogenase 1 (ND1) and cytochrome oxidase c subunit I (COI) were amplified by PCR using total DNA from individual cysts and later run on non denaturingdoi:10.4067/s0717-77122006000200001 fatcat:ivoiai4azreo5fjsm5f46zawwq
