Welfare implications of minimum wage increase in Nigeria

Given the down turn of economic activities in Nigeria and the agitation for minimum wage increase, this study investigated the impact that increases in minimum wage will have on households welfare in Nigeria using a Computable General Equilibrium Model. The study formulated two scenariosincrease in minimum wage of workers by 211% and 150%, being increase from N18,000 to N56,000 and from N18,000 to N45,000 respectively.
