High temperature SOFCs and sensors need electrolyte materials with high mechanical strength and thermal shock resistance for secure assembly and reliable service. These materials can be produced economically from commercial coprecipitated hydroxide powders using a special pretreatment, including heating and wet comminution to prevent mixing of stabilizing agents.
