Narratives, particularly personal narratives, have been used extensively in advancing activism goals. Working within this convention, author-activists strategically and transparently use storytelling, particularly personal and longform narratives, to raise awareness about wicked problems, engage audiences, and encourage social change. This research, which focuses on the intersection of existing writing practice, transmedia activism-a narrative-driven extension of transmedia storytelling-and their interplay with old and new media, emerged from a need to identify and examine existing author-activists' practices and consider innovative combinations of practices in contemporary settings.
