The construction industry around the world is the most under digitalized and automated industry in the world due and results in low quality and productivity. Digitalization and automation with robotics in the industry have the potential to turn around the industry. In this research, the focus is on the barriers that exists in the status quo for early and easy adoption of automation and digitalization in the industry. more » ... nges available using qualitative and quantitative techniques and key fields are categorized as autonomous vehicles, robotic systems, prefabrication systems, exoskeleton, process requirements and transformation, digital resources. The barriers uncovered during the research are economic factors both at customer and contractor side, digital divide in organization, work culture in organization, technical limitation, and security concerns. The study provides organization with key insights on the barriers and enables them to plan better and have mitigation strategy in place for easier adoption of automation and digitalization in the construction space.
