The drum brake is a mechanical device which inhibits the rotational motion of the wheel by the action of friction generated between shoe brake and the brake drum. During braking, the brake drum experiences high temperature and thermal stresses. Due to this the drum brake material should possess a high thermal conductivity, thermal capacity and high strength in order to withstand these stresses.
