A Comprehensive Study of Software Product Line Frameworks

In today's competitive software market, there is a constant need to launch new features and products or enhance the existing products in a flawless, accelerated and cost-effective manner. SPLE (Software Product Line Engineering) refers to engineering technique which reuses common set of features and at the same time it has provisions to manage features which are product-specific and not shared by other products in the product line. It is an approach for implementing software variability and helps to extend, customize or configure the products in order to use in a specific context. Researchers have proposed several SPL approaches. In this paper, we did a comprehensive study and analysis of various existing SPL approaches and discussed the outcomes of our review. We tried to present the backgrounds of various SPL approaches, and identified key issues that need to be focused in future research.
