MEDICAL ASPECT OF THE EARTHQUAKE AT CANNES

H. Blanc
1887 The Lancet
495 to receive from three to six patients, should be considerably increased. It was lately published in The Times that there are over 30,000 female lunatic patients in the asylums. It is well known how easily they are excited by the presence of the opposite sex. Why not appoint lady visitors for the female wards and private female patients in licensed houses, in place of, as at present, the commissioners and magistrates, all gentlemen, whose visits generally upset such patients.
