Characterization of an Ionic Liquid Ferrofluid Electrospray Emission Pattern

The angular distribution of the electrospray emission plume was measured for EMIM-NTf2 based ionic liquid ferrofluid. Measurements were obtained using a tungsten collector plate which was rotated over a single ferrofluid emission source through the use of a stepper motor. Current density vs. angle was recorded for two different magnetic fields while emitting under three bias voltages. The current density was found to be rather constant within 40 degrees of the beam axis, decaying abruptly to
