The author has so far developed the National Integrated Catchment-based Eco-hydrology (NICE) model, which takes into account a complex interaction between surface water and groundwater. He has evaluated this interaction and its effect on ecosystem and biogeochemical cycle by using this advanced model. In this paper, case studies of model application to Kushiro Wetland, Lake Kasumigaura, Tokyo Metropolitan Area, and China are overviewed from the view point of this interaction. Further
