Unlike generalized alleviation, targeted alleviation of poverty refers to the employment of scientific and effective programs to identify and support impoverished population and to manage supportive system in accordance with living condition and background of each household. Social work is an important way of poverty alleviation, and the philosophy and practices associated with social work match well with the principle and duty of targeted alleviation.
