This study aims to evaluate the republican era teacher, Fuat BAYMUR's work "Turkish Teaching", in which he mentioned about the basic language teaching, in terms of contemporary Turkish teaching methods. Fuat Baymur is a teacher who sheds light not only on his own period but also on future with his researches and examinations on teaching methods and practices. more » ... hose works were printed as profession book series of elementary school teachers. The analyssed work consists of expression by talking, expression by writing, tuition of spelling, tuition of reading and grammer parts. This information source, which is half a century old, is important in terms of historical development of Turkish teaching and its main principles of mother tongue education. In the study, the method of document examination from qualitative research methods was used. Fuat Baymur's work "Turkish Teaching" has been analyzed comparatively with contemporary Turkish teaching methods and programs by including the curriculum of that period. Baymur adopts a teaching approach that responds to the interests and needs of the students by requiring a teaching method that helps the students' daily life skills and socialization besides teaching his teaching methods in his works. A multi-faceted teaching environment and a student-centered approach attract attention in Baymur's works. The work, which is examined in this direction, carries a reference book character in terms of the basic principles of teaching Turkish. STRUCTURED ABSTRACT
