The article is devoted to social amnesia as a necessary component of social memory. The author describes the types of social amnesia, analyzes the factors and conditions of its emergency, investigates its rootedness in the metaphysics of social being. The correlation between social amnesia and the phenomenon of counterculture is also analyzed in the article.
