Comparative Study of PID, Type-1 and Type-2 Fuzzy Control for Nonlinear Systems

Traditional PID control is widely used in industry due to its advantages of stability. The traditional PID controller is very difficult to obtain satisfied control performance for complex nonlinear systems with uncertainties. Fuzzy control approach has better antiinterference ability than traditional PID control method, and thus it can be used to deal with many complex nonlinear systems. By numerical simulations, the performance of fuzzy control is better than that of traditional PID in some specific situations, and the anti-interference performance of type-2 fuzzy control is better than type-1 fuzzy control and traditional PID control for a certain nonlinear problem.
