This study examines the relationship between economic growth and diversity for US counties over the period 1990-2007. The existing literature provides conflicting conclusions on the relationship between diversity and growth, based on theoretical arguments as well as empirical analysis. A conditional growth model is estimated through spatial econometric techniques which account for the role of location and spatial dependence in the regional economic growth process.
