The article points out the consonance between Weber's scientific work and his actual role in the social and political life of Germany. It accentuates Weber's effort to connect the general and the specific (sociology and history), and refers to his concept of ideal types -social action, domain, rationality. It reviews Weber's lectures, Der Nationalsttat und Volkswirtschaftpolitik (1895) and Politik als Beruf (1918), introducing Weber as a nationally perceptive, committed and involved thinker.
