Cone Precursor Cells Are the Cell-of-Origin in Retinoblastoma
2014
Cancer Discovery
RESEARCH WATCH Major finding: RB loss in human cone precursor cells promotes proliferation and retinoblastoma formation. Mechanism: NMYC, MDM2, p107, and SKP2-driven p27 degradation are required for proliferation after RB loss. Impact: Retinal cell-type-specific pathways render maturing cone precursors sensitive to RB depletion.
