Objectives: Ulcerative colitis is an incurable inflammatory bowel disease that increases the risk of colorectal cancer (CRC). 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) is the predominant chemotherapy for CRC patients; however, undesirable side-effects, including mucositis, are common.
