We consider that the factors which influence the economic competitiveness, in general, exert, also an influence over a country's tourism competitiveness. Infrastructure, public and private institutions and their transparency, telecommunications, health and education infrastructure, at a primary, secondary and tertiary level, the efficiency of the labor market, adaptability to new technologies and innovation are only part of the economic competitiveness pillars, without which a country's tourism
more » ... cannot evolve. According to these arguments, the present paper evaluates, from the methodological perspective provided by the World's Economic Forum, the economic competitiveness of Romania, in comparison to a series of emergent countries in the region.
