RESUMO As pessoas que procuram os serviços de saúde buscam, além de acolhimento, relações solidárias e de confiança com os profissionais para poder resolver seu problema de saúde. Sendo assim, o indivíduo surdo ao buscar atendimento na Unidade de Saúde da Família encontra como bloqueio a sua comunicação com a equipe. Thus, the deaf individual when seeking care in the Family Health Unit finds his communication with the team as a block. The Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) is defined as a natural language of the deaf and is the symbol of identity and a means of social interaction. The aim of this study was to review and analyze how the literature describes the care in family health units for the deaf patient. This study aims to contribute to the assistance provided to the deaf population in health services. For the study a bibliographic research was performed from scientific articles related to the explored theme. Primary Care is considered as the gateway of entry of the user to the services offered by the Unified Health System (SUS), so it is up to the professional who works in primary care not only technical competence, but the in-depth knowledge and skills that favor the establishment of communication processes and relationships of interpersonal character, so that the exchange of messages and information is clear and efficient.
