Flow-vacuum pyrolysis of title compounds 7 and 8 was investigated at 1.33 mbar on a large temperature interval (500 o C-800 o C). The main reaction products of 7 were: anthracene, 9methylanthracene, dibenzosuberone, 5H-dibenzo[a,d]cycloheptene and 5H-10,11-dihydrodibenzo[a,d]cycloheptene. The pyrolysis products of 8 were: anthracene, 9-methyl-anthracene, phenanthrene, 5H-dibenzo[a,d]cycloheptene and 5-methylene-5H-dibenzo[a,d]cycloheptene.
