Anomalous Cepheids and Population II Blue Stragglers

AbstractRecent studies of anomalous Cepheids (ACs) and Pop II blue stragglers (BSs), including photometrically variable BSs (VBSs), are reviewed. The VBSs represent about 25% of the BSs, the majority of which are SX Phe short-period variables in the Cepheid instability strip. Mass estimates derived using various techniques suggest that both ACs and BSs are relatively massive (about 1.0–1.6 Me).
