Parametric Study to Optimization of CNC Turning Process Parameters for Surface Roughness using ANOVA and ANN

Now a day's achieving a good Surface Finish is the main focus in the metal cutting industry during turning processes. The present work is to investigate the effect of speed, cutting speed (feed) and depth of cut in computer numeric control i.e. CNC machine. The experimental results showed that speed, feed and cutting speed are the most important parameters influencing the surface roughness. more » ... ial software package MINITAB 17 based on the analysis of means (ANOM) and analysis of variance (ANOVA). ANOVA was performed to find the significance of the cutting parameters on the Surface roughness. The optimal cutting parameter settings are determined, as well as level of importance of the cutting parameters. ANN will be able to predict the output closely given set of inputs. This will help for future engineers to decide what will be the value of surface roughness for given input data.
