Evaluation of the Preparatory Program at Çukurova University: Focus on the Content, the Teaching-Learning Process and the Assessment System

English preparatory programs have been designed to develop English language competence of students to the level sufficient to pursue successfully in their academic life. more » ... tudy consist of all the first year students studying at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, whose medium of instruction is English. The data are obtained through a questionnaire which is composed of Likert Scale items. In this study we focus on the three dimensions of the English preparatory program at Çukurova University. These are: the content of the program, the teachinglearning process and the assessment system. The results of the study show that generally the preparatory program at YADYO was effective in terms of the three program evaluation dimensions mentioned above. However, the students suggested making some changes to the existing program to make it more effective and better adjusted to the students' needs and expectations.
