The paper focuses on the strategies of constructing queer identities in modern German and Russian cinema. On the material of three Russian and two German films of the 21st century, revealing the features of the melodrama genre, the similarities and differences in the representation of queer-identity are investigated, and their cultural and historical context is analysed.
