Dapsone-resistant leprosy in a population of Bamako (Mali)

Prevalence of dapsone resistance among 105 previously multi bacillary patients, living in the vicinity of the Marchoux Institute in Bamako, Mali, was 5.7%. Patients had been treated for 10-29 years with a mean of 21 years. It is possible that although the amount of drug admin istered was only 56% of that prescribed, these long incubation times are the result of a year-long practice of administering dapsone by injections.
