Planta humilis, propemodum herbacea potius quam suffruticosa, e basi multicaulis, caulibus adscendentibus erectisve, 10-18 om altis, usque ad inflorescentiam foliosissimis; foliis primordialibiis 2 cm longis, anguste linearibus deflexis, ceteris multis axillaribus crebre fasciculatis, omnibus saturate viridibus, undique muriculato-scaberulis; capitula mediocria numerosa. in summo caule corymboso-paniculata; involucri obconici bracteis 12-15,
more » ... is 12-15, adpressis, obtusis, apice manifestim herbaceoincrassatis; flores radii 3-5, disci circa 5; pappi paleis circa 7, oblongis, acutis, achenio villoso aequilongis. Species known only from the low and torrid plains of the southwestern part of the .Colorado Desert in California. Being densely clothed, even of late flowering, with fascicles of larch-like leaves, its aspect is in marked contrast to that of all other Californian members of the genus.
