Para isso, adotamos o roteiro de análise de materiais didáticos proposto por Lima (2014) e adotamos como corpus de análise um volume do 6º ano de uma coleção recomendada pelo PNLD e adotada em ampla escala. A fim de fundamentar teoricamente esta pesquisa, lançamos mãos dos PCN de Língua Portuguesa (BRASIL, 1998) e dos estudos da Sociolinguística representados por Bagno (2007) , Faraco (2008) e Bortoni-Ricardo (2005 , 2006 . Em nossa análise, constatamos que o tratamento do referido tema é apenas pontual em um determinado capítulo e os gêneros adotados são estereotipados. Abstract The textbook is a tool of great importance for the teacher in the teaching-learning process in the classroom, and is often the only material used by the teacher. Considering this fact, the present article is the result of a study that had as objective to analyze how the textbook of Portuguese deals with the subject of the linguistic variation as content of teaching for the classes of Portuguese Language and which textual genres are used to illustrate cases of linguistic variation. For this, we adopted the script of analysis of didactic materials proposed by Lima (2014) and adopted as corpus of analysis a textbook of the 6th year of a collection recommended by the PNLD and adopted on a large scale. In order to base this research theoretically, we launched the hands of the Portuguese Language PCN (BRASIL, 1998) and the sociolinguistic studies represented by Bagno (2007) , Faraco (2008) and Bortoni-Ricardo (2005 , 2006 . In our analysis, we found that the treatment of this topic is only punctual in a given chapter and the adopted genres are stereotyped.
