The growing shortage of organs for orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) has led to an expanded donor pool with the use of marginal grafts. Recipients who receive liver grafts from HBsAg-negative, anti-HBc positive donors have an increased risk of developing de novo hepatitis B infection.
