Desígnios do Desenho no Contexto da Cultura Visual

The Portuguese painter Almada Negreiros, from the mid-20th century, used to say that he did not like people who could not draw themselves. It seems to us that drawing is a human faculty as important as speaking at an early age. Actually, every child draws and draws herself both in and out of school. Drawing has been part of art education since its beginnings. Today, as in the past, drawing is a skill to be developed in early learning and lifelong. So we ask: How can drawing be used in
more » ... e used in multiliteracies? And what can be said about the drawing spaces in the contexts of visual culture? We have seen that the debate around "visuality" and visual culture has had an impact on art education. Has drawing had a space in such debate? These and other questions are dealt with in this paper, which concludes by presenting a third educational space for the drawings of drawing that are not easily consistent with the rigid borders between school and environment or between analysis and production.
