A novel shale inhibitor was synthesized by free radical copolymerization in aqueous solution, using acrylic acid (AA), acrylamide (AM), maleic anhydride (MA) KH-570 as reaction monomers and potassium persulfate as initiator. The structure of the copolymer was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR).
