Minimally invasive surgery MIS has revolutionized how to treat certain diseases in Medicine. Factors such as lack of training and high costs of equipment, have limited their implementation in Veterinary. A first step towards widespread the use of these procedures is to establish its potential. It is also important to know the concept, philosophy and advantages of these techniques, which allow to veterinarians to see minimally invasive surgery from another perspective. more » ... ure of veterinary surgery involves closing the technologic gap, and seize the road already traveled by human surgery, and thus offer the benefits of these advances to patients. Finally, this review ends with an analysis of some of vanguard techniques in human medicine that can be developed and used in veterinary medicine.
