Ten microsatellite DNA loci developed for the white-toothed shrew (Crocidura russula) were tested for PCR amplification and for utility in linkage studies in the house musk shrew, Suncus murinus. Four primer pairs successfully yielded PCR amplicons and showed polymorphism between two mutant strains, BAN-kc,oeb and WZ. Cloning and sequencing of the PCR amplicons of all the four loci confirmed the presence of microsatellite sequences.
