Idioms, proverbs, maxims, metaphors, colloquial expressions all reflect the past and present views of language users, how to conceptualize and categorize the surrounding reality and the phenomena appearing in it. This article is an attempt to reconstruct the image of a woman and a man in both Hungarian and Polish language, as well as their roles within the society.
