Megalotomus parvus West. is a neotropical alydid very common and abundant in northern Paraná State (23 o 11' S latitude, 51 o 11' W longitude). A colony of this bug was maintained in the laboratory for successive generations. Nymphs and adults were reared in plastic boxes (12,0 x 12, 0 x 3,8 cm) lined with filter paper, using mature seeds of pigeon pea, Cajanus cajan plus water (imbibed cotton).
