In this paper, we suggest an open eco system model "Community- based living lab" to support people with dementia for safe and happy living. In this model, instead of establishing a closed and secure area for people with dementia, open and reciprocal communities are proposed as one of the optimal strategies for future aging society. The suggested open community is characterized with co-creation among people with dementia, industrial partners, municipalities, local care institutions, and

We first introduce and analyze a case in Omuta city, Japan, and then extract success factors of the Omuta's dementia care programs. The community-based living lab in Omuta's contributes to enhancing Omuta's success and provides sustainable improvements to the fast-chaining social infrastructure for wider aging communities. Finally, we discuss the critical aspects of the model.
