My awarded paper examines whether the relative risk aversion hypothesis (Breen and Goldthorpe) is supported in Japanese society. Results in my paper show that a simple entering model, which does not include an assumption such as relative risk aversion hypothesis, has the most explanatory power. Then, I point out a problem that mathematical sociology has little presence in sociology and also propose a solution: collaboration with various researchers who employ empirical analyses. Keywords
